"The relationships I developed with those associated with Powering Arizona have been instrumental in developing my career in the electrical industry. As a result of the impact the organization had on me, I've gotten the opportunity to work as an estimator, project manager, director and now a vice president. Additionally, Powering Arizona provides support and information for electrical industry professionals -- especially women -- to recognize that there is a world beyond installation that includes leadership and management. This industry is full of opportunities that need to be shared!"

I had earned a BS in business while in the Army and was hired by a financial service company but realized I didn’t care too much for office work. I come from a family of tradesmen and decided to look into the electrical trade. The camaraderie that I found in the apprenticeship program reminded me a lot of being in the army and it didn’t feel like going to school, which made the time fly while you were learning the trade. I would recommend the program to just about anyone who is looking for a career (not just a job). Anyone who can make it through the apprenticeship program will have a world of options with how that can progress in their career while making a good living.

After it became apparent that I was not cut out for college, I joined the Apprenticeship program. The program taught me so much more than how to install electrical work. I was taught a strong work ethic, the value of a hard day's work and responsibility. All phases of the program teach fundamentals to prepare you for a life-long career, teaching the trade, and so much more such as safety, professionalism, leadership and problem-solving. The attrition rate of seasoned Journey level workers and above is outnumbering the entry rate of Apprentices. If you are interested in a career with endless opportunity and advancement, this is the program for you.

"Experience is what makes the difference in leveling up. Learning the trade with the best and most experienced in the field allows me to do the kind of work that will last and perform for its lifetime. There are many advantages to working for such a huge organization: better pay, benefits, employee protections, but also, I have developed so many new connections with great people. Instructors and all involved in the school are very friendly and approachable, offering assistance and explanation to any question. I find that the industry is still in the beginnings for women making careers in construction, but I feel that the education I am receiving will put me at the top in quality."

"My overall experience working as an IBEW Electrician has been a great one. The apprenticeship training is the foundation of learning the trade and the ongoing training as you progress through your career is great as well. I have been given opportunities to move up as a result of the energy I have put into my work, along with the pride I take in it. There all many advantages of investing in this career path. It is a career and not a job. You have support and resources through the contractors you work for, the union hall, and the apprenticeship. The benefits, pension and annuity are a huge plus on top of the pay scale. And it really is a brotherhood with everyone looking out for each other."
